‘Pearls’ of wisdom for grads

Pearls make an elegant and timeless graduation gift. Whether you give earrings, a ring, or a gorgeous strand of pearls, you’ve got something to be cherished for a lifetime. That’s because pearls are a core part of a woman’s jewelry wardrobe.

I love pearls for so many, many reasons. First, because they are natural beauties, gifts from the earth. Actually a mineral (calcium carbonate), pearls are formed in layers, within the shell of a mollusk.

Secondly, they come in a huge variety of soft colors, from classic white to pink, silver, black, and even multi-hued.

Pearls may be classics, but they are very hot this year. You’ll see them layered, and in unusual colors. Multi-colored Tahitians are a favorite of mine, more casual than high fashion. I love these beauties mixed with both white and golden South Sea pearls, blending natural earth textures and interesting color mixes. It’s a knock out!
