Many people might not realize it, but Christmas is right around the corner. At least for those of us in retail, it is. The fourth quarter starts after September, but people have been coming in all month in anticipation of Christmas purchases. They’re scouting out things they or their significant others would like, gathering ideas so they can pick their day to shop and get in and get out as quickly as possible.
Of course, I have a store full of wonderful collections of beautiful jewelry. Some of it is timeless classics, while other aspects break way out of the norm. I’m always pleased to show and offer something out of my cases, but as most of you know, my store specializes in custom jewelry. I’m geared specifically for it, and so the majority of what goes out my door is made right here in my shop.
But custom work can take time. Laying out a design; selecting stones; carving the wax, putting finishing touches on complex pieces; all of these steps are entirely necessary to a beautiful piece of jewelry that will last. It’s not exactly a same-day process.
If a custom jewelry piece is enticing to you – either for yourself or a loved one – for this coming holiday, getting started sooner rather than later can decrease your stress level significantly. Now is a great time to begin. The custom queue for my shop overflows pretty quickly starting in October, so the end of August through September is usually a prime opportunity to get things done and marked off of your growing list of things to do.
Stop in to chat with me or one of my staff about our custom process. It’s always free to talk, and if you decide a custom piece is not the way you want to go, there will be no hard feelings. At least we’ll get to know each other a little better.
